How do you install a flush mount ceiling fan?

We bought this fan that claims to allow for flush mounting, but there’s nothing in the install instructions about it. The mount on the ceiling looks like a socket for the ball/socket/rod style. Instructions on line say “hang the fan motor on the mount” as though this should be obvious. The fan motor has a pipe coming out the top and how it could attach to the socket is not at all clear.
To the first answerer: Thanks for the non-helpful and insulting response. I am replacing a fan with a new one and the point of my question is that I want it to be flush mounted and not ball/socket as is more typical. I need to know how to mount the motor assembly to the “socket” without using the extender rod and ball.

It seems that you really do not have much experience at this. There are several factors that must be considered when installing the new fan on an old junction box. If the box in the ceiling is not supported properly and you hang your new fan from this existing box it could fall. if all you have hanging there now is a simple light fixture that is not heavy you could be fooled into thinking that the new fan can hang in it’s place.

There are other factors involved as well. To much to explain here. You should call an electrician to hang it for you. There are a few different ways it could be hung. He will know which is best for your particular application.
