Do ceiling fan/ light combination units require more than 1 circuit wired into ceiling box?

brace in ceiling between rafters is installed. are these fixtures difficult to wire up?

There are two ways of doing this.
1. If you removed the existing light and installed the ceiling fan box, you can use the old box as a junction box to run wire from the old to the new box.
2. If you just replaced the box and are using the same location, all you have to do is re-use the existing wire and wire the fan/light as the instructions show.
3. If you need to run a new wire from the switch to the fan/light:
a: For two switches on the wall, one for fan and one for light, use 14/3 wire.
b: For one switch for both, use 14/2 wire.
4. For the two wire hook-up, the white wires will be connected and the black wire from the switch will be hooked up to the black and the red or blue on the fan. Use then use the pull chain on the fan for use.
4. For the three wire hook-up, the white wires will be connected and the black wires will be connected and the red wire from the switch will be hooked up to the red or blue wire on the fan. You can use one switch for the fan and one for the light.
