What uses more electricity, ceiling fans, or central air?
We have 5 ceiling fans in our home, but we also have central air… we cannot figure out which is cheaper to run, as we are on a tight budget. Help!
Ceiling fans actually use a lot of energy – especially if you have a lot of them. It’s best to move air through your home if you don’t use AC. Also, ceiling fans cool you (because you sweat), not the air. If no one is in a room at the time, kill the ceiling fan. The energy used to power it is actually increasing the temperature of the room.
