Electricity Bill………….HELP……….need tips………?
or clues how we can lower our MONSTER bill?
Add’tl info 90-100 degrees daily, 1350 sq ft home, AC 78, ceilings fans in all rooms, do laundry at night, pool filter on every 4 hours,…….electric Co….cheapest for this area……ANYTHING ANYTHING else we can do…my bill made me cry
1, Start to wash dishes by hand, if that is out of the question then do not let the dish washer dry the dishes.
2, My bathroom has a row of five lights above the basin, even though all five sockets are filled i only have one light bulb come on when i turn on the switch.
3, kids are notorious for using more electricity then needed explain to your children how important it is to conserve power, and follow up, if she is in her room playing and you call her out for dinner make sure you ask her if her lights are turned off.
4, Check your refrigerator to see that the energy saving setting is on.
5, If you need back ground noise try to use a radio instead of the T.V.
6, Turn off your computer when you are not using it. I know it is a pain to wait for it to come back on but it is a power hungry machine
7, If you call your electric company they usally will provide energy saving light bulbs for free or at a greatly reduced price. It is alot less expencive for them to give away light bulbs then to build more power plants.
8, when preparing food on the stove make sure that you use the “burner” that fits the size of the pan that you are cooking in; and on that issue…lets say that you are boiling hots dogs, you dont need to fill the pan all the way up…just fill it with enough water to cook the dogs..any more than that is just more water to boil. and make sure that foods are cool before putting them in the fridge, if you put warm food in there it just means that the fridge has to run harder.And cook out side on the grill when you can.
