Has anyone had an exploding lightbulb made in China? It happened to me in my ceiling fan w/o having been on.?

It is very rare for a lightbulb to explode but known to happen. Years ago cameras used flashbulbs that screwed into the flash attachment. They occasionally exploded when they flashed to add to the excitement of the day. It would normally occur when you turn the light on. Probably not a fixture problem, just replace the bulb.

Why is it so hard to stick to punishments for a child?

I had to punish my oldest son (9 years old) today for tearing down the ceiling fan in the den. He plays a lot and doesn’t really act his age. He acts more like a 3 year old (I have one of those too). Anyway my husband and I decided to punish him for two weeks (actually my husband said a month but I talked him down to two weeks). We didn’t see him do it and he claims that it was an accident but you have to really pull or kick more than once for it to be pulled from the ceiling. Now the light and the fan will not work. We live on a tight budget and can’t buy another one right now. Anyway, I explained that his punishment is for two weeks with no karate class, no desserts, no outside play, no video games and no toys. He cried himself to sleep. When he woke up he asked me if he can just have one week of punishment. I said no and he cried again. I feel really bad but my husband and I agreed. Should I stick to the two weeks or let one week pass and deal with my husband being mad at me?

No, you must stick to the punishment. If you give in, he will know that he can divide you and your husband. You must back your husband or it will cause a rift in your marriage. Two weeks is nothing compared to 18 years of raising a brat.
